How smoking costs are calculated
The calculator works out the daily cost by dividing the number of cigarettes you smoke per day by your pack size, then multiplying by the price per pack. Monthly cost uses 30.4375 days (the average month length), yearly cost uses 365 days, and the 10-year figure is simply the yearly cost multiplied by ten. No data is sent to a server — everything runs locally in your browser.
Prices vary widely by country and tax regime. Enter the price you actually pay for a pack to get the most accurate result. If you buy cartons, divide the carton price by the number of packs it contains.
