Public holidays for any country and year
Choose a country and a year to list that year’s public, bank, and national holidays — each with its date and the weekday it falls on. Holiday names are shown in English with the local-language name beside them where it differs. Dates and weekdays are formatted in your chosen language using your browser’s built-in internationalization, and nothing is sent to a server.
How the dates are worked out
For the United States, United Kingdom, Canada, Australia and most of Europe, holidays follow fixed calendar rules — a fixed date, an n-th weekday of a month (such as the third Monday), or an offset from Easter — so the tool computes them for any year. Where a country observes a substitute or “in lieu” day when a holiday lands on a weekend (for example the US moving a Saturday holiday to Friday, or the UK to the next free weekday), that observed day is shown and tagged. Korea and China have major holidays that follow the lunar calendar and cannot be derived from a simple rule, so their dates are bundled for the years 2024 through 2030. Japan’s holidays — including the spring and autumn equinoxes — are computed for any year.
FAQ
Why are some dates marked as observed? When a fixed-date holiday falls on a weekend, many countries grant a substitute day off on a nearby weekday. The tool shows that substitute and tags it, alongside the original calendar date.
Why can’t I see Korea or China outside 2024–2030? Their lunar-calendar holidays are gazetted year by year and don’t follow a fixed formula, so the tool only covers the verified range. Western/Gregorian countries are computed and work for any year.
Are these all the holidays where I live? The lists cover national or federal public holidays. Regional, state and local holidays vary within a country and are not included, so check official sources for your specific region.
Does this work offline and keep my data private? Yes. All calculation and formatting happen in your browser with no uploads, accounts or network calls.
