FAQ
Does it keep counting if I leave the tab open? Yes — the countdown runs continuously via a one-second interval. If your computer sleeps or the tab is throttled by the browser, the numbers may jump slightly when you return, but the underlying calculation always uses the real current time, so it self-corrects immediately.
Is the countdown in my local time zone? Yes. The datetime-local input accepts a date and time in your browser’s local time zone, and the countdown compares that to Date.now(), which is also local.
What happens after the target time passes? The display shows a “this date has passed” message rather than counting negative values.
