Simulate how a color looks with color blindness
Choose any color and instantly see how it is perceived by people with the four main types of color-vision deficiency (CVD). The original swatch is shown alongside simulations for protanopia (reduced red sensitivity), deuteranopia (reduced green sensitivity), tritanopia (reduced blue sensitivity), and achromatopsia (no color perception at all). Each simulated swatch shows its resulting hex code so you can compare values directly.
The dichromacy simulations use the Viénot–Brettel–Mollon projection applied in linear-light sRGB, the same approach used by accessibility tooling; achromatopsia uses a standard luminance grayscale. This is a useful design check, but it is an approximation — color blindness varies in severity from person to person, so use it as guidance rather than a guarantee.
How to use it
Click the color box or type a hex code such as #3498db. The original and all four simulations update live. If two colors look identical in one of the simulations, viewers with that condition may not be able to tell them apart — a sign to add labels, patterns, or stronger contrast.

What is color vision deficiency? CVD, often called color blindness, is reduced ability to distinguish certain colors. It affects roughly 1 in 12 men and 1 in 200 women, most commonly the red–green types (protanopia and deuteranopia).
What is the difference between the types? Protanopia and deuteranopia are red–green deficiencies, tritanopia is a rarer blue–yellow deficiency, and achromatopsia is total color blindness where only brightness is seen.
